Battle of Actium

The grand finale fought between Octavian (later Augustus) and Mark Antony. Taking place on the 2nd of September in 31 BCE, this naval conflict all but brought the curtain down on the Roman Republic only to unveil the Roman Empire which would endure for more than 500 years.
